Abstract
Problems that restrict the studies and education of Japanese Area in Korea can be classified roughly into two. First, the program of Japan studies is still reproduced expensively within narrow scope of the studies of Japanese language and literature. Second, the logic of nationalism and anti-Japan is reflected in the studies indirectly, interrupts objectivity. From 1990s, Japan studies can be diversified in the specialized area, with several experts who cover diverse areas. In spite of the promotion of varietyin specialized studies, the progress of area studies as the issue of the studies is not regularized yet. Instead, it seems that area of academic studies and conditions of education do not answer the expectation of the society and just waltz around. To improve this condition, some counter plans should be made up.
