Following the notably increasing attention among Korean academics on ASEAN and related international affairs, this article aims to provide a comprehensive review of the studies on ASEAN (and ASEAN-related multilateral arrangements) published in the Korean academic journals for the past 20 years. Specifically, the article explores how ASEAN-related research has developed over the years and tries to identify some achievements and missing holes among the major studies. Some practical suggestions follow the review in order to fill these missing gaps and to make further progress for so-called “ASEAN studies” as a promising field of the East Asian studies in Korea.
